English 11 Homework over the Christmas Break: The Jade Peony

1. D Block : You are reading to end of page 141 in your Text. 

2. C Block: You are reading to 125 in your Text.

All of you need to read carefully, and do the Chapter Questions well.  

While you are reading, you need to take notes, so you when you come back, you can get together in your same Role Groups to start to build your roles. 

English 11 Homework: 

1. Synthesis Essay: "The Smile" and "The Pedestrian." 

First: You are reading the two texts carefully, and creating an OUTLINE for your Essay, creating bullets of synthesis to help you when you write the Essay.

I will approve your Outline before you write.

Please look up terms and/or other things that you do not know, that you need to understand. 

**You will be writing the Synthesis Essay, beginning Wednesday the 14th.

English 11 Homework for Monday 22nd:

1. You are working on your The short stories, "The Day They Set Out" by Beverly Harris...,  and "Tuesday Siesta." 

You will be presenting your work on Thursday. Work over the Weekend and get together with your group on Monday to Wednesday, and present on Thursday.

English 11: Friday 15th:

1. You are working on your Synthesis Essay that will be due on October the 16th. Be on task, and build a well-developed essay, and excellent thesis.

English 11 Homework for Wednesday, October 10:

1. Continue working on the Synthesis Essay.

The Essay will be due Monday, October 16.

English 11 Homework- Blocks C and D: from Monday to Friday. w

1. Synthesis: Be working at home and in class on your Synthesis of "Totem and "If I Forget Thee, O Earth".  You need to work at Home and in Class.

2. You need to know both short stories very well if you are to do well.

English 11: Thursday, 13th:

Finish your work on "Totem": One to Ten.

If you are finished, be reading and working on "If I Forget You, Oh, Earth.

English 11 Homework for Friday 14th:

1. You are working on the short story "Totem."

Write down the work that is on the board: 

Five to Ten : Responding Critically. 

You are to be finished by Monday.

English 11 Homework for tomorrow September 13:

1. "Totem": Read the short story at least two times.

2. Look up words that you do not know, and write them out and explain them with an example.

3.What is the definition of "satire"? Show a few examples.

4. Do 3 and 4 Responding Personally: and 5 - 9, Responding Critically: and 10: Responding Creatively.

English 11: Presentations for Monday and Tuesday September 10 and 11:

1. Work tonight so you are ready to present your "Personal Verse" - in your Groups. Have concrete examples to share and explain. The "Personal" is not about what you want to be when you grow up: it is a real examination of how you are growing into YOU. How are you growing ethically? Show us.
